Hoist the flag of fun and mayhem as Tim Bray Theatre Company presents the first production in their 2024 season, The Great Piratical Rumbustification. Based on the delightful pirate tale by Margaret Mahy, adventurers of all ages can set sail from 13 April at The PumpHouse Theatre, Due Drop Events Centre, and Māngere Arts Centre Ngā Tohu o Uenuku.
Building on from the success of Tim Bray Theatre Company’s 2012 and 2017 productions of The Great Piratical Rumbustification, mayhem ensues in this rollicking, rumbunctious escapade that promises the most fun you’ve had walking the plank in years.
Shiver me timbers! The pirates are restless, yearning for a grand piratical adventure. “Oh, for a pirate party!” they proclaim. But, as any good sea dog knows, a proper pirate party must be a stolen one. Join our young hero, Oliver Terrapin, as he opens up the doors of his oblivious parents’ home for a party – a party with real pirates!
Tim Bray Theatre Company continues its commitment to delivering captivating and engaging productions that spark the imaginations of young minds. This swashbuckling stage performance promises to be a journey filled with laughter, music, and oar-some performers including Dylan Underwood (The Twits, The Santa Claus Show), Kat Glass (The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch, Badjelly the Witch), Terry Hooper (The Twits, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch), Christian George (The Whale Rider, The Santa Claus Show), Rebecca Ansell (The Santa Claus Show), Francesca Browne (Greedy Cat, The Twits), Grant Zent a former TBTC Youth Theatre actor (The Santa Claus Show), and newcomers to the company, Kazim Khan and Verity George.

Accessibility and inclusion continues to be at the forefront of the company’s programming, with Sensory Relaxed, NZSL interpreted and Audio Described performances available for The Great Piratical Rumbustification so that all young voyagers can come along on this adventure.
The Great Piratical Rumbustification is the first show in Tim Bray Theatre Company’s 2024 programme. The season will also feature Five Go on an Adventure from 29 June – 20 July, based on the famous adventure stories by Enid Blyton, the comical chaos of Joy Cowley’s Mrs Wishy-Washy from 21 September – 2 November, and the company’s annual festive production The Santa Claus Show ’24 from 30 November – 22 December.
