Wonderlight Theatre Aotearoa is a collective of experienced and emerging arts practitioners. As a company, we are dedicated to valuing young people, not only by creating high-quality theatre and live performances for them, but also by mentoring and platforming young and emerging artists and theatre makers. Wonderlight Theatre Aotearoa presented Wonderkind in 2022 at Circa Theatre, and in 2023 at the Capital E Bite-Sized Treats Festival. They are currently working on their second production, The Home Inside.
The company has developed a slow-brew method of devising. (Wonderkind was developed over two years.) We aim to always put children at the centre of our work, which means that we regularly collaborate with children to help us develop our shows. Our work is language-lean - physical, with exquisite puppetry and design.
