Bite-Size Treats - Capital E National Theatre for Children

Join us for a taste of live performance, curated just for ākonga!

The debut Capital E Bite-Size Treats offers three Aotearoa children’s theatre shows and an international film that will fill the hearts and minds of ākonga with playful possibilities.

Ākonga will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in imaginative and comedic shows featuring charming puppetry, uplifting dance, and melodic music that will spark their creativity and leave them filled with wonder.

A Bucket of Beetles, Taku Waimarie, The Tantrum, and Wonderkind are designed to be short and sweet, covering a variety of topics such as the environment, te ao Māori, managing emotions, and friendship. The show genres range from non-verbal to full te reo Māori, to dance, and there’s multiple show packages to choose from making them perfect bite-sized treats for young audiences.

Capital E Bite-Size Treats replaces the National Arts Festival planned for May 2023. Shifting focus to this programme means that despite rising costs, Capital E can still offer an accessible event with subsidised tickets and transport, so tamariki can experience the power and joy of live performance and build lasting and transformative memories.

  • DATES: Tuesday 2 May - Friday 5 May
